Puzzazz’s difficult version of Sudoku is called Red Hot Sudoku and it is on the market for $0.99, the same as Puzzazz’s other titles. The game has not been reviewed yet but their other apps have been reviewed very well. Hit the jump for the full description.
The makers of Strimko are back with their second puzzle game, Futoshiki. The game is a variation of Sudoku, a recipe they’ve done very well with in their last release. This time greater-than and less-than symbols are added to the grid. The game has been out for just over a week now and has garnered three 5 star reviews. The full description is after the jump and the game is selling for $0.99.
A new puzzle game comes to us today from the folks at Braintonik. The game is a twist on Sudoku that requires you to not only think in rows and columns, but also only use a number once in each “stream”. The game is $2.99, if you’re a fan of the sudoku or logic genre, give it a shot. Full Amazon description is quoted after the jump.
EA dropped the price on their Sudoku app to $1.49 this week. No doubt in response to the recent wave of Sudoku related titles from Puzzazz. This should be a note to indie developers out there. If you’re going to release a title that competes with any other company, especially someone like EA, you need to be prepared for this.
Amazon released Sudoku Unbound from Puzzazz this week. This one is a bit of a shocker to me. EA launched a Sudoku game in November and this title does not stand up to it except for the fact that it’s $1.00 cheaper.
All of your basic Sudoku features are there, notes, autofill, etc. But the game has three skill levels compared to EA’s five, the user interface is not nearly as polished, and while EA has thousands of puzzles in their game, Sudoku Unbound has 100.
I completely understand Puzzazz’s rationale for launching this game. They have the content created for other platforms and it would be a minor amount of work to port it over and you only have one competitor. However, given that the game is beaten on the feature set by so much I question their price point.
Right now Sudoku Unbound is at number 357 in the Kindle Store and EA’s Sudoku is at #235. If I were in Puzzazz’s shoes, I’d drop the price to $0.99 and get that ranking up with a promotion. At $0.99 this is a competitive title, unfortunately at $2.99 it’s worth forking over the extra buck and buying EA’s game.
